Google has announced that they are going to start to block sites with low reader experience factors. Once again, quality is King!

Show Up In Top Google Pages

Has your website site been blocked by Google? Recently there has been a move by Google to block sites with low reader experience factors. Those with little quality information on them relevant to a search will be blocked. These pages are typically filled with keywords that people are searching for, but the actual information contained is relatively worthless or very poorly written.

This move is designed to enhance the reader experience when they use Google to search. Search Engine results that come up should contain links to pages that will actually give information on the word searched.

Non Relevant, Low Quality Content is a Killer

Most readers can relate to the frustration of searching and clicking on links that go nowhere or that you must spend too much time reading through before you get to a word that might apply. Your frustration may be even worse when you click on a link with a seemingly relevant description, but the page is nowhere close to the information described.

This is the situation Google wishes to eliminate to give users a much better experience when they are using their service. This presents a potential change that you will need to make if your pages have been blocked. You will need to get the pages up to a better standard that will allow Google to send searchers your links by including them in the search results.

    • Approximately 12% of searches were affected by Google’s new rules as they were implemented in the US.

It has since then been implemented in other countries and languages besides English as well.

Triggers to Having Your Blog or Website Blocked

Google uses several things to signal a relevant search result or one that should be blocked. One thing they look at is what is on the actual page itself. Another trigger is the links on the page and where they lead to. Performance is actually considered as well. They look at the time it takes for an average user to load the information. They learn the loading time through data collected.

The User Can Block Your Site!

There are two additional ways that users themselves can now choose to block sites from coming up in their search results. A Chrome extension and a block link within the search results, both provided by Google, are giving users a more active role in determining their own results and what they deem relevant. With the blocker, the user clicks on a search result and if it is not relevant enough for their purposes, they can block the link when they return to the results page.

Just do it- but just do it right!
